Why is it better to rent a car in La Paz?
- If you travel to La Paz we recommend venturing to the surrounding beaches, Saltito, Punta Arena, Balandra, El Tecolote, among others. Getting to them will be easier by car.
- Traveling part of the whale route in Baja California Sur is easier if you rent a car. The freedom to move at your own time is the best option to make your trip an experience.
- The cost and availability of local transportation does not assure you the schedule and scope to travel to other beaches safely, affordably and at the time you need.
- Renting a car gives you the certainty of having an assistance team for any eventuality throughout your trip.
¿What do you need to rent a car in La Paz Airport?
Passport or official ID (INE).
Valid driver's license. Digital license is not valid. If your license is not in roman alphabet, you must present a valid international license.
Personalized credit card (1 year of use)..
Security deposit. You may be able to omit the deposit in some offices.

La Paz is the capital city of the state of Baja California Sur. Its wide boardwalk is its most recognized tourist attraction, however, the beaches around this coastal city are truly beautiful. Balandra Beach
Balandra is a bay in the Sea of Cortez, considered a huge natural pool. It is a vast expanse of crystal clear water, with an average depth of only 1.5 meters, making it an ideal destination for traveling with children and to enjoy swimming in calm waters. Balandra Beach is a 30-minute drive from downtown La Paz and has public parking.
Whale watching
One of the most emblematic activities of the Baja California peninsula is gray whale watching. During the months of January through March, the whales travel thousands of miles in search of the warm waters of the Sea of Cortez. Puerto Lopez Mateos, located three hours north of La Paz, has a natural channel that allows you to admire the whales from a privileged position.
Espiritu Santo Island
Espiritu Santo is an archipelago in the Sea of Cortez, located about 30 kilometers north of La Paz, which is home to a lush national park. It is home to more than 1,300 species of plants and animals and is considered one of Mexico's most beautiful eco-tourism destinations. The place is ideal for snorkeling or a catamaran ride.
La Paz Malecon
A quiet and picturesque seaside walkway is the heart of the city. This is the Malecón de La Paz, which not only has beautiful views, but also an active gastronomic and commercial center. We recommend you visit the restaurants located in this area, where you can taste dishes such as machaca de mantarraya and the famous fish tacos La Paz style. Don't forget to take a bike ride along the bike path and enjoy the sunset sitting on one of the benches on the boardwalk.

Do I need to leave a deposit to rent a car?
By booking directly with MÁS Rent a Car you can rent a car without a deposit, as long as you meet the requirements for this. The no deposit option is only available for reservations made through www.masrentacar.com for the following locations:
Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Cozumel, La Paz, Loreto, Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta.
You must present the following documents:
- Official identification (Passport or INE).
- Valid driver's license.
- Arrival flight ticket and departure flight confirmation.
- Your reservatio must have CT (Full Coverage), either adding it to the reservation or by choosing our option MÁS Total.
*Not applicable in the following vehicle categories: Premium SUV (Chevrolet Suburban or similar), SUV All Terrain (Jeep Wrangler or similar), Large Van (Toyota Hiace or similar), Intermediate SUV (Kia Sportage or similar), Standard SUV (Nissan X-trail or similar).
What should I consider when renting a car?
When renting a car it is important to take into consideration the following aspects:
- Check if your rate includes car insurance.
- Know the methods of payment and deposit.
- Verify the terms and conditions.
- If you booked through a third party, we highly recommend you to check your reservation voucher and in case of doubts, contact the car rental company directly.
- Know the amount of the deposit that will be requested as a guarantee.
- Check the condition of the vehicle upon delivery.
- Know the car return policies (gasoline, waiting time, etc.).
