Historic Center of Guadalajara

In downtown Guadalajara you will find buildings such as the Cathedral, Rotunda of the Illustrious People of Jalisco, the Sacred Museum, the Degollado Theater and the Plaza de Armas. One of the main characteristics is that these points are united forming la cruz de plazas, designed by the architect Ignacio Díaz Morales, who sought to provide the people of Jalisco with a public space for rest and interaction.

Currently, the pedestrian spaces around the cathedral have been expanded and you will find several places to spend the afternoon and enjoy the typical dishes and drinks of Guadalajara.

Gastronomy

Interact with Jalisco through its cuisine, dare to try the typical dishes of each area of the state, some of the most famous and outstanding are the birria, torta ahogada, Guadalajara style tacos de barbacoa, carne en su jugo, and roasted goat; at the end you can accompany any of these dishes with a jericalla for dessert. The gastronomy and typical dishes of each area of Jalisco are a reflection of the history, culture and tradition, so one of the best ways to get in touch with the place you are visiting is through the palate. The torta ahogada in particular is recognized by the type of bread, the salty birote, which due to the climatic conditions and altitude is unique to the area.

Don't forget to try some of Jalisco's traditional drinks such as tejuino, cazuelas, tequila and tepache. 

Tequila 

An hour and 15 minutes from our office on Americas avenue, you will arrive in Tequila, categorized as pueblo magico and that gives its name to tequila and recognized worldwide for its denomination of origin. In Tequila you can find comfortable accommodations with views of the agave landscapes so you can enjoy a full day in this great and incredible place. During your stay in Tequila we recommend the following activities:

• Guided visit to one of the tequila houses.
• Tequila tasting and food and wine pairing
• Walk through the streets of Tequila
• Los Azules waterfall

Guachimontones

Near Teuchitlán, an hour and a half drive from Guadalajara, is the Guachimontones Archaeological Zone, named after an ancient pre-Hispanic settlement that stands out for its architectural style. This is known as Guachimontón and includes tumuli or structures of circular levels that are staggered, something like a circular "pyramid". 

Walk the route of the Guachimontones that consists of 3 kilometers round trip where you will walk through the ball game field, the ceremonial center and the 10 groups that comprise this archaeological zone. It also has a museum where you can learn more about the history of this pre-Hispanic settlement. Admission to the Guachimontones is approximately $50 pesos per person.

Tapalpa

Tapalpa means place of colored earth and is a magical town located 2.5 hours by car from Guadalajara. To get to know Tapalpa you can start by strolling through its streets, where the cool climate, color and tradition stand out. 

A mandatory stop in Tapalpa is Las Piedrotas, located in the Valle de Los Enigmas, just 5 kilometers by car from Tapalpa. In these stones you can see inscriptions made by pre-Hispanic cultures, climb some of them and spend some quiet time with your family or friends. Although the entrance is free, it is advisable to give a voluntary contribution to the people who are in charge of cleaning and maintaining the space. 

Some of the typical foods you should try in Tapalpa are chard tamales, wood-fired lamb, canned fruits, candies in syrup, cajeta and other dairy products.

El Nogal Waterfall

A 30-minute drive from Tapalpa will take you to Salto el Nogal, an ideal place for nature lovers. A 105-meter waterfall and activities such as rappelling, zip-lining, hiking and even paragliding are some of the attractions you will find at Salto el Nogal. You can also hire a guided tour that ranges between 400 and 1200 pesos depending on what is included in the tour.

La Primavera  Forest

Known as the lung of the metropolitan area of Guadalajara, laprimavera forest is a protected area of about 30 thousand hectares and where you can access at different points near the city. It has spaces suitable for camping, mountain biking, hiking, picnicking, enjoying an afternoon in the warm river and you can even participate in temazcales or bird watching workshops. It is a protected area for the flora and fauna of the area and therefore we recommend that you respect the spaces and regulations to enjoy your visit to the fullest.
